    Some of us live like every day is Fat Tuesday, and Boy, they don’t call it that for nothin’.

    Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday, which refers to the practice of the last night of eating richer, carb-ier, fatty foods before the ritual fasting (or giving up something in sacrifice like sweets, cigarettes or booze) for the Lenten season, which begins on Ash Wednesday. FYI: That’s Wednesday!

    Every year at this time, I use Lent as an excuse to get a good grip on my sweet consumption. Sometimes I’m successful in my efforts of sweet fasting the entire 40-plus days of Lent – and sometimes I’m not. BTW, this year, Lent’s really about 47 days.

    How ‘bout you? Think you can you make it 47 straight days without imbibing in one of your favorite addictions – or not?? What’re you willing to give up for Lent – for improved health?

    I will tell you this – the sheer sense of control that you gain once you accomplish something like this is phenomenal.

    And when you’re in control, the absolute sense of empowerment you feel is one of the biggest benefits you get besides improved health.

    Do bear in mind, however: once an addict, always an addict. It’s all in how well you manage your addiction choices.

    But first, you gotta have a plan and oftentimes people attempt to lose weight without a real one. Sure, they try to combine a healthy, effective, low carb eating strategy with daily cardio and they lose a few pounds, let it go to their head, then get lax and lazy – and before they know it – they slip right back into their old ways, packing all the pounds they lost back on.

    And a lot of times, even more.

    I had a plan right from the giddy-yup with my 150-pound weight loss. Then I experimented and improvised as I went along to find what worked – and what didn’t. I learned to “bend my low carb diet” to fit my lifestyle, and now I am pleased to share all my successful strategies with you.

    I’ve found that some of the most crucial “Keys” to true and everlasting weight loss success really are to research your diet to find the one that works the best for you. And I venture to say, if you struggle with your weight – running from one diet to the next – you’re highly carb sensitive just like me, and that’s why the low carb lifestyle works so well for people like us.

    Plus, a lot of you just don’t move nearly enough in a day . . . but that’s another story.
