    Some of us live life like every day is Fat Tuesday, and boy, they don’t call it that for nothin’.

    Mardi gras is French for Fat Tuesday, which refers to the practice of the last night of eating richer, carb-ier, fatty foods before the ritual fasting (or giving something up in sacrifice like sweets or smoking) for the Lenten season, which begins on Ash Wednesday.

    It usually takes about a week to wean yourself off all white starch and sugar carbs necessary to lose weight. So, what better time of year to kick the sugary, carby habit and lose a bit of weight than Ash Wednesday!

    Tired of hauling myself around at 317 pounds and climbing, I made up my mind to find a way to lose weight once and for all. I did, and now I share my methods and discoveries with you.

    Oftentimes people begin to lose weight without a real plan. Sure, they try to combine a healthy, effective, low carb eating strategy with daily cardio and they lose a few pounds, but get lax and lazy – and before they know it – they’ve packed all the weight they lost right back on. And sometimes even more . . .

    I had a plan right from the giddy-yup and improvised as I went along, finding out what worked for me, and what didn’t. And finally, I knew I had to fit my work schedule into my fitness lifestyle.

    I’m very fortunate that I have the luxury of working from home most of the time, so I can always squeeze my daily cardio in.

    No excuses.

    I’ve discovered that the “Keys” to true and everlasting weight loss success truly are to research your diet – find the one that works best for you – the one you can stick to for life. Low carb works like a charm for me, and most others I know, too.

    Then make a plan for success – write it all down every step of the way, every single day. Your weight, distance walked, even the foods you eat. Record it all in your Fitness Journal. Daily.

    And then, by all means, expect success – you deserve it.

    Then you just plain gotta do it!

    It amazes me also, how many people skip this last step!

    Practice being a “doer,” and success will follow you every step of the way. It does me.
